ISO/VDI Test Centers
According to VDI 2862 standards, three types of bolt failures are recognized:
Type A Bolt Failures: Significant to safety (these failures trigger indirect or immediate danger to people and objects).
Type B Bolt Failures: Significant to function (self-loosening) – occurs when the bolt failure leads to a vehicle breakdown.
Type C Bolt Failures: Customer dissatisfaction – occurs when bolt failure causes customer inconvenience.

Joint Classification According to ISO 5393
The stiffness of the joint is determined by the ratio between the torque applied to the screw that joins it and the rotation of the screw itself.
Hard / Rigid Joint
